“The music of Sambayá opens a small window to a hidden corner in the big city, where new species can be seen populating the urban space, filling it up with new colors and sounds.”

This is a project orbiting Brazilian music universe expanding in every direction.

Sambayá was born in 2007 by Miguel Rubio’s idea of creating a new universe of original compositions which have one hand in the Brazilian roots and another in the imagination.

The project started its journey in the city of Madrid (Spain) and slowly walked its path into the Spanish World Music and Jazz scene where it always found an enthusiastic response from the audience.

In 2011, Miguel moved to Rotterdam and set up again the project with musicians who have been working for years in the Jazz scene in the Netherlands and surroundings.

The new formation has played in many festivals and clubs in several countries of Europe.

On stage , Sambayá creates a magical atmosphere full of emotion and it beats on the highly contagious rhythm of Brazilian music.
